Katey McCorkell
POLE FITNESS, AERIAL SILKS & AERIAL HOOP INSTRUCTOR

I first experienced pole fitness at the age of 17 when I replaced my friend’s mum on a 6 week beginner pole course and loved it. I was always one of those kids that hung upside down off the monkey bars and climbed trees so I think it was a perfect fit for me. I then found pole fitness again in 2011 and have been hooked ever since. After one year of training on pole I became interested in what other aerial classes there were and went on to train in hoop and silks. Over the years I have also enjoyed acro, poi, flying pole, lollipop, trapeze, German wheel, Spanish web and cloud swing.

My life and my fitness has changed so much thanks to pole and aerial. I used to join gyms and never stick to going for very long as I would get bored of the same routines and repetitive classes. I love the challenge of trying something new every time I train and feel like there’s so much more to learn even after years of training.

I really enjoy teaching and there’s nothing better than when a student gets that move that they’ve been working on for ages and is screaming your name across the class (or telling you to grab a camera) because they’re so excited they’ve finally got it!

I have competed in a few competitions with my pole doubles partner, recently winning second place. The studio has a fantastic social atmosphere and I have made so many great friends there.

I teach Wednesday evenings (beginners’ pole & mixed ability hoop) and Saturday mornings (mixed ability silks and pole) and am available for privates Wednesday evenings and weekends.
